Dear Fellow Veteran
The Manchester Veterans
Council wishes to express its appreciation for your service to our Country, and
we invite you to march in our upcoming Memorial Day Parade here in Manchester.,
which will be held on Monday, May 28, 2007 starting at 2:00pm
In the Memorial Day
Parade earlier this year we assembled a stragglers Platoon of Veterans in
uniforms representing all the various services, and they marched as a unit. The
public and the Press loved it, and we want to expand that concept this parade.
For those of you who never got a parade upon your return here is your chance to
let the public know that you served proudly in the service of our country.
Two platoons will be
organized, one of members in uniform, and the other for those of us who either
no longer have a uniform or can no longer fit into it. To march in civilian
clothes all we ask is that you wear something that proudly displays your branch
of service, be it a ball cap, a T-shirt, sweatshirt, or jacket with your
service clearly indicated, and that you sign our mailing list so we can advise
you of future events and opportunities. You can do so in advance by filling out
the below form and either mailing it to us
(Tony Karam, 237 S. Lincoln St, Manchester 03103), or bring it with you
to the Parade. It is requested that if you will be providing a float or vehicle
that you advise us by May 23rd of this by completing the below
form. Please no Political signs, company promotion, or handouts of any kind.
The marching units will
line up on Elm Street, north of Webster Street starting at 2:00 PM. We ask
that you have your unit in the line of march by 2:15 PM at the latest. It is
requested not to
use the parking lot of the Brookside
Congregational Church to park
The parade will proceed
southerly on Elm Street to Veterans Park commencing at 2:30 PM, with a halt at
City Hall at 11:00. At 3:00 PM~ all units will halt and all music
will cease for the tribute to veterans.
A
Ceremony will held at Veteran's Park at the conclusion of the parade to honor
all Veterans
